A number of Port Isabel Tarpon athletes are participating in 7-on-7 football again this summer, and the 2017 season is already underway.
On the current schedule two games are played each Tuesday afternoon and evening in Brownsville. The team is 2-0 after winning both games last week.
This Tuesday they played teams from Brownsville Veterans and Porter high schools. They lost to Veterans, 26-28, and won against Porter, 44-8.
This version of football is quite different from the high school game thousands of fans watch on Friday nights in the fall.
