The South Padre Island Shoreline Task Force held a special meeting on Tuesday, April 18 to consider its recommendation to City Council on an ordinance for Lot 1, Block 1, of the Padre Island Inn Subdivision, setting the Dune Protection Line, also referred to as the Historic Building line. This item had been previously tabled at two Shoreline Task Force meetings.

“I think that at this point we are ready to move forward with making a well thought-out recommendation as a staff,” stated SPI Shoreline Management Director Brandon Hill. He began his presentation by explaining the method of analysis used in determining the recommendation. The method, known as DMAIC, which stands for define, measure, analyze, improve, and control, is something that City Manager Susan Guthrie plans to utilize on many City projects moving forward, explained Hill. The process involves defining the situation, measuring and quantifying variables, analyzing the data, improving the situation by determining options for solutions and controlling the steps to take in order to ensure success.
