By unanimous vote, the Port Isabel School Board of Trustees appointed Jamie Infante to be the new Tarpon athletic coordinator and head football coach during a regular meeting of the board Tuesday evening.

Infante comes to Port Isabel from a former rival school district, the Lyford Bulldogs, where he served as AD and head coach for 15 years. He recorded his 100th career win with the Bulldogs just this past football season and was named the 2016 Athletic Director of the Year at the RGV City of Palms Football Clinic.

Under his leadership, the green and gold Bulldogs made 11 post-season appearances primarily using a spread offense. Infante is known to rely heavily on quarterbacks with sharp aim and quick feet.
