The Port Isabel Tarpons ended the regular season on a winning note last Friday night, as they maintained focus and again took care of business with a 43-20 road win over the Bears of Corpus Christi West Oso.
With the win — its fourth straight in district play — Port Isabel clinched a share of the District 16-4A, Div. II title with a 4-1 league record. Orange Grove and Rio Hondo also finished 4-1 with wins in their games Friday night. Rio Hondo was all over Progreso, 49-7, and Orange Grove held off Raymondville, 42-39.
The Tarpons enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the district. Rio Hondo will go in as the No. 1 seed and Orange Grove as No. 3. Port Isabel will face the No. 3 seed from District 15-4A, Sweeny, this Friday night in Sinton.
