The Port Isabel High Lady Tarpons volleyball team got its first wins of the season last week, and continue to work hard at their craft this week with district season fast approaching.
The girls hosted the Volley at the Beach Tournament last week and on the opening day of pool play they swept their matches to start the event 3-0 on Thursday. On Saturday, playing in the championship bracket, they lost to Santa Rosa in two sets, 25-14, 25-11. They got Raymondville in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22, then closed out against PSJA-Southwest, losing 15-25, 27-25, 10-15.
This past Tuesday the team traveled to Brownsville for a match with the Brownsville Pace Vikings and lost a hard-fought five-setter, 10-25, 25-18, 25-14, 23-25, 13-25.
