The marine forecast wasn’t too rosy this past weekend, but that didn’t stop dozens of lady anglers from participating in the 35th Annual Ladies Kingfish Tournament (LKT). Some 240 anglers fishing from 99 boats
took to the Laguna Madre and the Gulf for the tourney’s bay and offshore divisions hoping to snag the big one.
Bay anglers competed for redfish, trout, and flounder while offshore anglers sought out kingfish, blackfin tuna, bonito, and dolphinfish.
Anglers who caught a fish in every category of their division were eligible to win the grand prize for their division.
As the clock wound down to the 7 p.m. offshore deadline Saturday evening, the Bamm-Bamm pulled into the dock for weigh-in. On board were two women who are no strangers to LKT, having fished it together for at least six
years and bringing home several prizes along the way.
