Preparing for a new fiscal year in October, Laguna Vista Council members met Tuesday to consider an operating budget with expenditures of $1,497,547 and revenue projections of $1,617,197 for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

An effective tax rate of $0.344124 was proposed for the coming fiscal year. “It is staff’s intent not to propose an increase in the tax rate,” City Manager Rolando Vela said. “I have given you several options that don’t involve a tax increase,” he said.

No action was taken on the first reading of the proposed ordinance.
