With concerns over fund usage, Town officials declined to take action to upgrade lighting fixtures at Roloff Park Tuesday.
Meeting in regular session, the Council was presented with a plan to upgrade solar light panels at Roloff Park to create a hybrid lighting system.
“This proposal comes from the same company that installed the lights when the park improvements were made,” City Manager Rolando Vela said. “The solar panels will be upgraded as well as being connected to the grid. In the event the solar fails, we will be able to provide electricity to turn them on,”
The proposal from Mardel Souza included a state grant in the amount of $10,760,” Vela said. “He would charge us only the difference of $3,920, which is the amount not covered by the grant.”
Vela asked that the funding for the project come from the 2011 certificates of obligation balance of $47,214.
