Many a Laguna Madre fiesta is being planned throughout the long holiday weekend to celebrate the 240th birthday of the United States of America.

Things get started Friday evening, with the traditional beach and bayside fireworks displays on South Padre Island.

Bayside fireworks are viewable from any of a number of bayside venues, such as Louie’s Backyard, but eager spectators have been known to crowd along the main boulevard for a glimpse of the summer weekend pyrotechnics, as well.

Gulf side fireworks will launch near Clayton’s Beach Bar and can be viewed from the popular venue, the beach, or nearby hotels.

Clayton’s will continue the patriotic celebrating immediately following with the Star and Stripes Concert, a live music event featuring Kevin Fowler and Whiskey D.

On Saturday, join the Town of Laguna Vista in its annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration beginning at 5:30 p.m.
