Shoreline Task Force welcomes new staffers

The South Padre Island Shoreline Task Force welcomed the City’s new Shoreline Management Staff including Director Patrick Barrineau and Program and Project Manager Brandon Hill at their Monday meeting.

Texas A&M University doctoral candidate Patrick Barrineau has been selected as SPI’s new shoreline director. Barrineau, who is expected to complete his doctorate in August, has researched landscape evolution in South Texas, New Mexico and California. In addition, he has produced publications on coastal barrier systems and environments.

As the new shoreline program and project manager, Hill comes to the City with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean and Coastal Resources, as well as a degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Marine Resource Management. He recently conducted research as the Sargassum Early Advisory System Project Manager at Texas A&M University at Galveston.
