Twelve Port Isabel High athletes have qualified for next week’s Region IV Track and Field Meet.

Alex Martinez led the way for the Lady Tarpons by again placing first in the pole vault.  She qualifies for the regional meet in the event as does Sabrina Garza, who placed 2nd behind Martinez.

Ava Gomez qualified in three events.  She runs the anchor (final) leg on the 4×400-meter relay team, which finished 2nd at Wednesday’s area meet in Kingsville.  Gomez also qualifies in the long jump and the 300-meter hurdles.  She was 3rd in the former and 2nd in the latter.

Simone Harry made it with a third-place finish in the triple jump.  Gomez placed 5th in the triple jump.

Natalie Garza followed up her win in the 400 meter dash in last week’s district meet with a second-place result in that event at Kingsville.
