Police officers in Laguna Vista are preparing to launch the Laguna Vista CARES – Christmas initiative on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Just in time for the Christmas season, police patrolmen here will demonstrate holiday cheer by fostering friendship rather than adversarial rapport.
“If someone is stopped for say, a broken headlight, an officer may pull them over and offer a friendly warning, and then wish them well and encourage them to be safe,” said City Manager Rolando Vela.
The external efforts will also include offering a dollar toy or lotto ticket, he said. It’s all a matter of showing the area that Laguna Vista CARES, he said.
