For the first time since August, the Historical Preservation Committee met late Tuesday afternoon to discuss a variety of topics from brochures and plaques to plans for getting their hands dirty cleaning historical markers on the Island.

Chairman Steve Hathcock, who is also a member of the Cameron County Historical Commission, shared with the committee that the county commission is looking for new members and invited them to attend the next meeting to find out more. The Cameron County Historical Commission meets on Sundays every two months in various places, and the next meeting will be held on Dec. 14.
