The Port Isabel Tarpons shifted their vaunted running game into high gear last Friday night as they outscored a feisty Brownsville St. Joseph’s team, 44-21, at Tarpon Stadium.
It was a game of two halves for Port Isabel. The Tarpons scored the first four times they had the ball in the second half to take a 37-21 lead early in the fourth quarter. In the first half they took a 7-0 lead on Alex De Los Santos’ 94-yard touchdown run with 2:45 to go in the first quarter. On their next possession they got a 27-yard field goal from Misael Nava for a 10-0 second-quarter lead.
