The Port Isabel Lady Tarpons finished the 2012-2013 softball season with an impressive 18-8 record, earning the 32-3A district championship and an area crown along the way, but the accolades continue to pour in.
The Lady Tarps were well-represented in the 32-3A All-District selections, with five players receiving first team honors and the Defensive Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Pitcher Daniela Salinas received the 32-3A Defensive MVP award while Kaila Torres received the Co-Defensive Player award, sharing the distinction with Jessica Flores of Rio Hondo.
Rounding out the 32-3A All-District First Team are first baseman Kelcie Swink, second baseman Natasha Ramirez, third baseman Victoria Cantu, short stop Alex Martinez and outfielder Sarah Rodriguez.
Outfielder Acerie Colunga was also recognized for making the All-District Second Team.
Cecily Niles, Michelle Martinez, Guillian Garza and Kacey Chavez all received Honorable Mention honors. Making the 32-3A Academic All-District Team were Daniela Salinas, Victoria Cantu, Cecily Niles, Kelcie Swink, Marina Wise-Herring and Natasha Ramirez.
Adding to the recognition was Head Softball Coach Jesus Garza, Jr., who was named the 32-3A Coach of the Year.
