Special to the Parade
There is a saying in Mexico, “La tercera es la vencida,” which translates to, “the third one’s the charm.” And in this case, the third “Vibrant Heritage” Mexican Artisan Expo hosted by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, is shaping up to be the best iteration of the event.
This year will be the biggest event ever as the event will be combined with the very successful McAllen International Travel Show scheduled for Jan. 4 and 5, 2012 at the McAllen Convention Center. The Travel Show usually draws around 14,000 people throughout the two-day event where exhibitors from all over the country attend to promote their cities or locations as a visitor’s destination.
Now included in the show will be more than 80 artisans from various regions in Mexico who will display some of the best arts, clothing, crafts and candies Mexico is renowned for. In addition to this, performers from the interior of Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley will entertain visitors of all ages with music and other talents.
Entrance to the Mexican Expo is free to the public so that everyone can enjoy the rich culture and arts brought by the artisans who will be selling their artwork during the event. The event will include special entertainment for children with clowns and games.
