Kayaking 101Hello to all, ready for some great info. Well, today we are going to talk a little about another great guide service here in the Rio Grande Valley, Robalo Guide service are the people to call for great fishing adventures. Captain Felipe Diaz takes tours out in the areas of South Padre for Snook, Reds, and Trout.

He uses quality equipment, so your time out on the water is an enjoyable one. He can be contacted at (956) 521-3923 or look him up on the web at robaloguideservice.com. Felipe comes by the shop sometimes and shows me some great pictures of the tours as well as the awesome fish he has caught, and let me tell you, seeing some of those shots really gets me wanting to hit the water. He is well known in the Valley as a great guide and sports, some really awesome package prices. I, for one, am really going to take him up on his offer to get me out on some snook. I have never caught one, but soon I hope that changes.

Aside for the awesome time, I plan on having with Felipe, I wanted to take some time to discuss the Tetra Angler 10 by Ocean Kayak, handles great, very light to carry around, and surprisingly I was not as cramped up as I thought I would be on a 10-footer. I was able to turn myself around with ease in the cockpit and didn’t feel tippy at all. The company has really done their homework in the production of this kayak. I hope you will soon have a chance to come out and try one, give me a shout when you’re ready, you’ll get the coffee, and I’ll get the rest.

Next week we will be trying out the Ocean Kayak Big Game, with a 600 pound weight capacity, I am eager to see how it handles when I put it thru the kayak handstand test. Take care everyone, and I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, and when you need help dropping some of those turkey pounds, drop on by the shop and we will hit the water.

As Always, stay safe, always wear your P.F.D., and test your whistle every now and then. See you out on the water.
