Here we go again! For the fourth time in six years it has come down to Rio Hondo and Port Isabel for the District 32-3A title. The game will be at Rio Hondo this Friday night.

Actually, there’s one other team in the mix for the district championship. The Tarpons and Bobcats, along with Zapata, are in a three-way tie for first place, all with 3-1 records. Port Isabel earned its way into the playoffs with last week’s shut-out win over Progreso. They will go in as undisputed district champions if they beat Rio Hondo and Grulla can take care of Zapata. Rio Hondo can still qualify for the post-season if they lose to PI. In that event, the ‘Cats are in if Zapata beats Grulla. If Grulla wins that game Rio Hondo would fall into a three-way tie for second place with Zapata and Grulla at 3-2, and Rio Hondo would be eliminated based on positive points.
