soccerIndoor soccer is coming to the Valle Vista Mall in Harlingen.

Owned by a father and son, Sonny Fonseca and Abel Fonseca II of San Benito, the two came up with a way to have active fun without the dirt, heat or rain.

Located across from Radio Shack in the Valle Vista Mall (Hibbet Sports’ old location), The Soccer House is open to players from the age of three to 103. The playing field is 75-feet-long and 29-feet-wide.

Participants can still expect to be doing a lot of running in the comfort of air conditioning.

There will be teams of six with a three-versus-three format and no goalie. According to the owners, “Players will ‘touch’ the ball more than 11 vs. 11 [games. There’s] no place to hide – the ball will find you.”

What to bring: A parent/guardian from 3-year-olds to 17-year-olds, and a copy of a birth certificate or other proof of age.

Seasons last seven to nine weeks, and there is a guaranteed minimum of 10 games per season starting in December.

Team registration is already underway and on a first come, first serve basis. Teams can sign-up Monday-Friday from 5:30-9 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday from 12 noon-6 p.m. Registration is not free and ends when leagues are full.
