How many people can fit on the only hill in Harlingen? The answer, as many as will come out on Saturday, Oct. 29, for Praise on the Hill.

Bring your chairs and blankets for a free concert featuring some of the leading artists in contemporary Christian music, such as Valley favorite Jonny Diaz and the headliner, Matthew West.

Diaz is best known for his song, “More Beautiful You” and West for his song, “The Motions.” They have teamed up to tour the nation, and the Valley is their next stop.

There will be a $1 donation taken to help benefit Boarder Missions and Benito Juarez Orphanage. They will also be accepting nonperishable food items and clothing.

There will be booths with food, drinks and merchandise as well as inflatable rides for kids of all ages.

According to promoters, the event was started in 2008 to bring a revival to the Valley. It is meant to be a time of fellowship and spiritual nourishment in a family friendly environment.

Though it started off at the hill, this is the first time it will return. In 2009, the threat of bad weather sent the event to the Mercedes Livestock Show Grounds, and in 2010 it was held at the Harlingen Soccer Complex due to moist ground conditions.

McKelvey Park is located on 1325 South 77 Sunshine Strip in Harlingen.

The event starts at 4 p.m. with games and local bands opening the act. The main show starts at 7 p.m.
