The city of Port Isabel recently resurfaced six streets in the older parts of the city.

According to City Manager Ed Meza, “We did about six streets with the capital improvement funds and they just completed it last week. These are streets that haven’t been maintained for years and we finally got them resurfaced.”

Meza said the commissioners decided what streets to work on based on a visual survey of the city.

Another deciding factor was that the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that they were awarded could only be applied to low income areas.
