On Tuesday, Aug. 16 the Port Isabel City Commissioners and Mayor held a special meeting to approve directors, durations of the zone and monies paid to the developers for the Modern Venice (The Fingers) project.

After presentations from residents of the district, the board voted to appoint David Woolverton, Gabriel Vanounou, Edward Mesa, Albert Welbel, and Santiago Cantu as directors for the fingers district.

“One of the main things those initial directors must do is submit a capital improvement budget for a period not to exceed five years, and then that has to be approved by the city manager and the consulting engineer,” said Commissioner Martin Cantu.
