The Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway has been left in the dark as of late due to faulty lighting equipment, according to Jesus Leal, head of the project with TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation.
The project to relight the causeway was started in November 2010 with the contract being given to Austin Traffic Signal out of Donna.
After replacing the lights earlier in 2011, the head fixtures that house the light bulbs were found to have a manufacturing defect, Leal said.
