A four-year-old Mission boy nearly drowned at the La Copa Best Western on Thursday, June 2. The South Padre Island Fire Department, Police and Emergency Medical Services responded and came to 350 Padre Blvd. to aid the child.

When they arrived, a Good Samaritan had already performed CPR. The little boy was vomiting, so the EMS took over.

According to the SPIPD, “Prior to this, the child had been in the shallow end of the pool with his mother, when she noticed her son under the water and quickly pulled him out.”
