(Photo by Lauren Laughlin)The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Madre celebrated the opening of their new Ship Store on Wednesday, May 18. The store was named in honor of the United States Coast Guard crewmen who volunteer at the club throughout the year. Present at the ribbon cutting were members of the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce, members of the Board of Directors for the club and several members from Coast Guard Station South Padre Island.

U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Mickey Lalor, who serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Madre, said,“When I ask my crew for volunteers, I am not telling them as their boss, I am asking them as Mickey, and time and time again, more than enough hands go up to volunteer.”
