The Port Isabel Tarpons Boys & Girls Golf teams traveled to the Tony Butler Golf Course in Harlingen last Wednesday to compete in the District 32-3A Golf Tournament.
The Tarpons Boys team finished a close third place behind district champion Zapata and runner-up La Feria.
The Tarpons were led by Sophomore Kieler Gentry, who finished sixth overall and earned a berth in the Region IV-3A Tournament.
Other members of the golf team are Troy Laznovsky, Arturo “Whitey” Perales, Andrew Ramirez, Pedro Lopez, Jesse Delgado, Nikesh Patel, Daniel Daigle and Nick Bomarito.
The Lady Tarpons finished fourth and were paced by Freshman Megan Francis, who also advanced to regionals and took fifth place overall.
Megan’s teammates competing included Jesslyn Delgado, Christina Cantu, Angelica Cantu, Kaylin Infante and Bennet Levine.
Kieler and Megan will be competing in Region IV-3A tournament Monday and Tuesday in Corpus Christi.
