Tarps compete in district golf tourney

The Port Isabel Tarpons Boys & Girls Golf teams traveled to the Tony Butler Golf Course in Harlingen last Wednesday to compete in the District 32-3A Golf Tournament.

The Tarpons Boys team finished a close third place behind district champion Zapata and runner-up La Feria.

The Tarpons were led by Sophomore Kieler Gentry, who finished sixth over­all and earned a berth in the Region IV-3A Tourna­ment.

Other members of the golf team are Troy Laznovsky, Arturo “Whitey” Perales, Andrew Ramirez, Pedro Lopez, Jesse Delgado, Nikesh Patel, Daniel Daigle and Nick Bomarito.

The Lady Tarpons fin­ished fourth and were paced by Freshman Megan Francis, who also advanced to regionals and took fifth place overall.

Megan’s teammates competing included Jess­lyn Delgado, Christina Cantu, Angelica Cantu, Kaylin Infante and Bennet Levine.

Kieler and Megan will be competing in Region IV-3A tournament Mon­day and Tuesday in Corpus Christi.
