Raybec to headline meeting

By JOE R. BOWLING JR.

The Port Isabel City Commission Tuesday night meeting will once again find Raybec and Ron Berman front and center and another big crowd is expected to turn out.

Recently a proposal to exclude certain areas from a proposed district and the Modern Venice Project was voted on by the commission.

This was followed by another wave of home owners asking to be removed or at least considered for removal from the district.

“We had a group approach us that wanted out,” said Port Isabel City Manager Ed Meza, “so we are now going to have a discussion on that this week.”

Berman recently stated that the voice of democracy is what determines the outcome and in response to this people within the community have been showing up at meetings so that their voice can be heard. Tuesdays meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it will be open to the public.
