Two items on the agenda for the Port Isabel City Commissioners’ Meeting this past Tuesday night led to another packed house at City Hall.
Although there were other items on the agenda, there was talk about the Modern Venice Project that brought out the big turnout. The crowd was large enough that City Mayor Joe E. Vega limited speaking time to three minutes each for those who wished to address the commission during the open forum.
During the meeting, the City agreed to loan Raybec $260,000 and at the same time there was talk of adjusting the map of a proposed district.
“We are excited to receive this loan,” said Ron Berman of Raybec. “This is going to help us with our work and it is also going to help out the city with the interest they receive.”
City Manager Ed Meza said that Raybec met all of the requirements for the loan and was happy that the city was able to use the funds.
“We had been given the chance to use this money some time ago,” said Meza,
