Saturday afternoon marked a tragic event on South Padre Island as a result of an auto accident that claimed the life of a young girl.
Officers from the surrounding area along with emergency crews were dispatched to the island for a one vehicle crash at 1:30 p.m.
According to reports, alcohol was involved as a Ford Expedition, driven by 21 year old Ismael Martinez of Brownsville was traveling north bound on Park Road 100 north of Beach Access 5.
Martinez lost control of the vehicle which eventually rolled over as it went in to the sand dunes.
Three-year-old Natalie Raquel Alvarado was ejected from the vehicle and was killed as result of injuries received in the crash.

Sad indeed. I’ve seen ten people come out of a max six seat, extended cab pick-up truck on the beach. Six were children. All at a time when the radio had ads about Click-it or Ticket. Don’t even get me started…
