Special to the PRESS
On Tuesday Liz Money and Diane Denson, owners of Ship Shape Boutique on South Padre Island, presented the Laguna Madre Humane Society with a check for $2,380.
The funds were raised at Ship Shape’s annual fashion show in February. 250 women attended.
“We asked them to donate to the shelter and told them we’d match whatever they donated up to $1000,” Money said. “The ladies went above and beyond, donating $1380. We want that money to be used spaying and neutering pets so that they have a better chance of being adopted.”
Members of the LMHS Board of Directors and shelter staff were present to accept the check.
“We’re just so grateful to Liz and Diane for their contribution,” said board president Becky Johnson. “It’s always amazing to see the community support us.”
The Laguna Madre Humane Society operates the only no-kill shelter in the Valley located at the Isabel Y. Garcia building in Port Isabel. It is a nonprofit organization supported by volunteers, donations, memberships, and grants.
