Special to the PRESS
The City of Port Isabel announced that it was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $60,000 from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) that will support the Laguna Madre Park Little League Field upgrade, and provide funding for field lights.
The field lighting equipment will be provided through a partnership between BTF and Musco Lighting, Inc., a leader in the sports lighting industry.
The City of Port Isabel owns and operates the Laguna Madre Park which includes a Little League Field. This field is used for tee ball, baseball, and softball by the children of the area, the school district, and the Boys and Girls Club. It is also used as a location for District 24, Texas West Little League Tournaments. The field still has its original lighting, which needs to be removed and replaced for the continued safety of the children who use this facility.
