Working with kids keeps local woman busy

Whenever Maria R. Gar­cia is not working with kids at the Laguna Madre Boys & Girls Club, she volunteers part of her time at the Lighthouse Assem­bly of God church in Port Isabel.

“I give classes dur­ing Sunday school at the church,” she said, while taking a break at the B&G club. “I teach children about God, about creation and about other things in life.”

Garcia said she has been a church volunteer for about three years now.
