Cascos declared winner of November race

By ANTONIO VINDELL

Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos has been declared the winner of the November 2 election in which he ran for a second four-year term.

Cascos, a Republican who was challenged by John Wood, a Democrat, won the race by 64 votes.

The Cameron County Commissioners’ Court, by a 3-to-1 vote, declared Cascos the winner of the race after approving the final canvassing of the votes during Tuesday’s meeting.

Wood, however, maintains that some irregularities happened during the vote and hinted that he might take legal action.
